HED Punjab Consultant Team Visits KFUEIT to Advance CPEC 2.0 AI Lab Initiative

RAHIM YAR KHAN, PUNJAB — A specialized consultant team engaged by the Higher Education Department (HED), Punjab, visited Khwaja Fareed University of Engineering and Information Technology (KFUEIT) to discuss the establishment of a state-of-the-art Advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) Laboratory.

The high-impact initiative is being spearheaded in cooperation with the Federal Ministry of Planning, Development & Special Initiatives under the CPEC 2.0 framework, aiming to boost technological innovation and regional capacity in cutting-edge domains.

During the visit, the delegation held a comprehensive strategic meeting with Vice Chancellor KFUEIT, Prof. Ir. Dr. Amir Azam Khan, alongside key university leaders to evaluate the scope, infrastructure, and technical requirements of the proposed project. Prof. Ir. Dr. Amir Azam Khan reassured the visiting panel of KFUEIT’s complete readiness and dedication to realizing the Punjab government's vision of integrating AI across higher education and research sectors. "KFUEIT is fully committed to translating the vision of the Punjab government into reality by embedding Artificial Intelligence across our engineering and technology landscapes. This AI Lab under CPEC 2.0 will serve as a hub for smart farming, advanced materials, and tech entrepreneurship in the region." VC KFUEIT committed. The meeting was also attended by Dr. Tariq Mehmood (Additional Director ORIC) and Dr. Mujeeb (Chairman, Department of Data Science & AI), who detailed the academic, technical, and logistical preparations already underway at the university. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement on the next operational steps, technical surveys, and framework integration to ensure the swift execution of the advanced facility.
