7th Board of Studies (BoS) meeting of Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence

The Department of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, Faculty of Information Technology, KFUEIT, convened its 7th Board of Studies meeting on July 21, 2026, chaired by Dr. Mujeeb Ur Rehman, Chairperson/Head of Department, and attended by external subject experts Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sultan Zia (The University of Chenab, Gujrat) and Dr. Zulfiqar Ali Ranjha (NUTECH, Islamabad), along with QEC representatives and departmental faculty. The Board unanimously approved several key academic reforms, including a revised, program-specific course code nomenclature for the BS Artificial Intelligence, BS Data Science, and BS Internet of Things programs, and the formation of an Industrial Advisory Board to strengthen academia-industry linkages in curriculum development, internships, and research collaboration. In alignment with HEC guidelines effective Fall 2026, the Board also approved the introduction of a new 3-credit-hour interdisciplinary course, "Introduction to Artificial Intelligence," across all undergraduate and graduate programs to promote AI literacy university-wide, along with the adoption of revised General Education course titles in accordance with the updated HEC Undergraduate Education Framework.
