SMART

Introduction

The setup of SMART is imitated to develop the research and innovation culture in the Civil Engineering. The SMART will also focus on the capacity building of Civil Engineering for the commercialization of testing and design/simulation services. Primarily the SMART intends to focus the local and nation level problems and issues related to Civil Engineering.

Objective

The objective of the SMART is to build the capacity of innovative research and commercialization setup of the Civil Engineering department.

Research Groups

1- Design software Division (DSD)

Introduction

This division will prepare the plan to use following design software for the technically and commercially demanding design and simulation requirements of Civil engineering field. The list is not limited and all the Civil engineering design software must be in focus.

Objective

The objective of the DSD is to focus on learning the design software which is commonly used by the experts of various sub disciplines of Civil engineering. We are targeting to build capacity for simulating the local and regional engineering problems and issues with the design software and to explore the best suitable design solutions.

3- Materials testing (MTD)

Introduction

The materials testing division aims to understand the physical and mechanical properties of raw and processed material related to Civil engineering, in laboratory and in field. The properties determination requires a series of testing on the standard testing machines. MTD aims to build the capacity for understanding and implementation of the tests as per standards.

Objective

The MTD will establish the environment for the testing of Civil engineering materials as per standards.
This MTD will start the commercial testing facilities at the Civil engineering laboratories for the construction material as like concrete, steel, bricks, soil etc. and water.
